I am writing the words on this print and making sure it’s perfect. So here’s the pre-sale: Please know that this image here is just my plan and the real version will be a bit different of course and I post them as they are made.)

Kamala Harris, first black and South Asian Woman to be the Vice President of the United States. As a South Asian Woman I am inspired and excited and I still don’t know how to express myself but I want to commemorate this historic moment…so here is her name in the center in Nepali, a South Asian language. The gold letters read "But while I may be the first woman in this office, I won’t be the last. Because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities."

I love that I can share with you that Kamal means lotus in Nepali and the “a” is added at the end to make south Asian names feminine. Just like how there’s an “a” at the end of my name. My eyes welled up with tears when Kamala Harris mentioned her Indian mother who came to the US at the of 19 and the generations of women – black women, Asian, White, Latina, Native American women who’ve paved the way to this day. It made me think of my first day in the US when I was 19…and I’m still dreaming in this country and I won’t stop because I keep seeing possibilities…

This is dedicated to everyone and especially for black, brown and immigrant women. Hopefully less names are mispronounced and looked at weirdly. I know it’s a long road ahead to stop the bleeding but I had to share and pause in this moment with you. I wish this print always reminds you of this joint moment we shared together of pride and hope. Let’s keep this magic with us.
